How to Enter Imperial City

Q: How do I enter Imperial City?

The Imperial City DLC adds a whole new dimension to PvP in Elder Scrolls Online. Battles are now confined in a much smaller area, and fighting in Imperial City is just as rewarding for small and large groups.

To enter the Imperial City, you need to travel to Cyrodiil and talk to one of your alliance’s captains. They will give you a quest which you must first complete in order to enter the City.

These captains are located near your alliance’s base gates:

  • Aldmeri Dominion: Captain Mulamurr and Captain Seriril
  • Daggerfall Covenant: Captain Durida and Captain Veranim
  • Ebonheart Pact: Captain Alesace and Captain Rythe

Next up, travel to Lake Rumare in Cyrodiil (the lake surrounding Imperial City in the middle of the map), and use one of these three gates as indicated in the map below:

Once you’re inside the Imperial City you will find yourself in your alliance’s base area in the Imperial Sewers. You will have to find a general there who will progress your previous quest received from your Imperial City Captain.

Lastly, talk to Drake of Blades in your base to complete the quest. She will also start your quest involving the Imperial City storyline. After that you can start exploring the Imperial City as you wish.

Leaving Imperial City

You can leave Imperial City by exiting Imperial City Prison or White-Gold Tower dungeons. This will return you directly to your alliance’s capital city.

To leave Imperial City but still stay in Cyrodiil, you can go through your alliance’s home base in Imperial Sewers (the same way you came in).

The sewer grate got rubble in front of it. Is that because I don’t have the imperial city, or the imperial city prison dungeons added, even if I’m doing the “city on the brink” quest

Imperial City is now available to all players and does not need a DLC purchase. You should be able to enter it through the Alliance War menu.
