Visit the nearest stables, you can find them at every major city and most small villages too. The cheapest Light Horse mount will cost you 17,200 gold: it can be quite an amount for new players, but you should have that much before you hit level 20.

If you need to make some extra gold early on in the game, be sure to pick up every flower you come across. Especially important for Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss. Those herbs are used for important alchemy potions and can be sold for 150-300 gold per piece.

Along with other crafting materials and some gold from quests you should have your first horse very quickly, just don’t forget to feed it every day.
