Q: What is the highest possible DPS build in ESO?
Definitely Fire staff. It’s the go-to build for everyone dabbling in Trials, and if you want the most efficient damage dealing build in the game Destruction Staff (always Fire staff, not Lightning or Frost) is what you should go for.
Best race for this kind of build is actually Dragonknight. Armor used is of course Light, due to numerous magicka bonuses.
The top raiding build (note: this is not a solo-friendly build) for a Dragonknight fire mage uses the following abilities:
Main bar (single target):
- Inner Light
- Crushing Shock
- Spell Symmetry
- Engulfing Flames
- Unstable Flame
- Flawless Dawnbreaker
And your weapon swap (AoE and buffs) should have:
- Inner Light
- Igneous Weapons
- Cinder Storm
- Elemental Ring
- Extended Chains
- Standard of Might
As mentioned your gear will all be Light armor. Though it’s always prone to change, you will typically want to get Spell Critical and Spell Damage whenever possible through set bonuses. Item sets you should look into are Twilight’s Embrace (craftable; adds spell crit and damage), and Soulshine jewellery (rings and necklace, with magicka, spell critical, spell damage).
Other notes:
- Thief mundus stone for additional critical, or if you feel you don’t need it take Shadow.
- Dunmer or High Elf are best races.
- Attributes should be something like 35 into health and 15 in magicka
